Heart of Ohio Farmers Market seeks vendors for 2024 season

CENTERBURG – The Heart of Ohio Farmers Market seeks vendors for the 2024 season.

With a kickoff date of June 6, it takes lots of planning to launch a successful market. Currently, the market is accepting vendors who produce a consumable product within a 25-mile radius of Centerburg. The market is also taking applications from handcrafted artisans.

The Heart of Ohio Business Association (HOBA) will host the market, while Katie Hux will serve as the market manager with the support of the market committee.

The Village of Centerburg strongly embraces the Farmers Market, allowing the use of Bell Park as the focal point location. Bell Park is located at the corner of East Main and North Clayton streets across from the village gazebo.

“If there is enough interest of vendors, we will utilize the area across the street to expand and offer even more vendors,” Hux said.

HOBA and the Farmers Market Committee are excited to begin a full season, as last year was just a sample of what is yet to come. The 2023 market was held from August-October. The 2024 season will begin June 6 through Sept. 26, held on consecutive Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Application information can be obtained from the Burg Café, Park National Bank (Centerburg), and the Village Hall or by emailing heartofohiofarmersmarket@gmail.com. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 19, and vendor selections will be announced on Feb. 22.

Mandatory “Good Agricultural Practices” (GAP) training will be held for all produce vendors on March 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ramser Activity Center located on the Knox County Fairgrounds in Mount Vernon. This training is sponsored by OSU Extension-Knox County.

Another required training is a “New Vendor” meeting scheduled for March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Village Hall. All market vendors will be in attendance to discuss guidelines and to ask any questions. A representative from a local insurance company will be present to briefly discuss liability insurance.

The Heart of Ohio Farmers Market has a tagline of “grown local and sold fresh.” The market committee strives to locate vendors who can provide a variety of fresh and locally grown meat and produce. You may follow the Heart of Ohio Farmers Market on Facebook.
