Twitter reacts to Justin Fields’ nonexistent trade market

It’s been a frenzied start to NFL free agency, where there have been some massive moves — both signings and trades.

One move that’s yet to happen: The Bears trading quarterback Justin Fields.

Now, it could be because the trade suitors are dwindling. But it could also be because the Bears have yet to make up their mind about what they’re doing at quarterback, as they’ve only met with likely No. 1 pick Caleb Williams for 15 minutes at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Free agency was always going to be important for a trade market developing for Fields, with some big-name veterans on the market, including Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield. But the top trade partners for Fields all went out and signed quarterbacks — the the Pittsburgh Steelers (Russell Wilson), Atlanta Falcons (Cousins) and Las Vegas Raiders (Gardner Minshew).

As those signings continue, Fields’ trade market continues to diminish, and it’s hard to predict where Fields will be playing in 2024. As you can imagine, NFL fans had plenty to say about Fields’ nonexistent trade market.

Is Justin Fields truly available? Is the asking price too high?

None of this makes sense to me

I get we all love Justin Fields. But the Raiders — who have the guy that called plays for Fields the last two years — chose to give Minshew $15M guaranteed over making a trade. What more do we need to know?

Wouldn’t be surprised if Justin Fields winds up as a backup with the Colts or Eagles.

Several teams that were being reported were never in play, and the market has been incredibly thin on him as the Bears have shopped him for a few weeks.

The Market is Non Existent for Justin Fields it Seems.

Kind of indicates what the Bears will end up doing at the Draft.

I’ll be the first to admit — I was too high on Justin Fields.

Major lesson in range of outcomes & risk-evaluation.

Getsy was never going to endorse a trade for Justin Fields.

It seems the league has also watched Justin Fields play football.

Y’all know whether Justin Fields is here or not in 24

Caleb Williams is still getting drafted here right?#Bears aren’t changing their plan

— Jake (@Jake_B30) March 11, 2024

At this point, the price to acquire Justin Fields for a year and see what sticks is looking way more appealing than the FA market

— Sayre Bedinger (@SayreBedinger) March 11, 2024

I don’t think the Bears necessarily “mismanaged” the trade market for Justin Fields. It’s not like they could have made teams want him more lol he just isn’t very valuable to the league right now

— Jeremy Layton (@JeremyLayt0n) March 11, 2024

Can someone take Justin Fields?

— Tankathon.com (@tankathon) March 11, 2024

The league is telling the Bears that Justin Fields isn’t worth as much as people in Chicago think he is and a good portion of #Bears fans are celebrating this like it’s a good thing. All because they dislike the idea of the Bears drafting Caleb Williams. pic.twitter.com/R5UMf9uMk2

Justin Fields is too fun to watch to not start next season

Your conservative bridge QB won’t take you to the Super Bowl

Don’t pass up the opportunity to be the most exciting mediocre team in the league

— GFed (@GfedGoCrazy) March 11, 2024

Imagine the Bears hold onto Justin Fields and let Caleb Williams redshirt his rookie season.

That would be an absolutely terrible decision.

I wouldn’t put it past the Bears to do this.

I like what Ryan Poles has done as GM, but he’s botched this with Justin Fields. He had to know the realistic return he was willing to accept for him in a trade before free agency started. Seems like he got greedy.
